At NRImate, your privacy is our top priority. We built this platform with minimal data collection in mind because we believe you should control your information.

Information We Collect

We collect only the essentials to make NRImate work:

• Email Address: Used for authentication via Gmail (provided by Auth0)
• Age: A number between 18-100 that you provide
• Sex: Your self-identified gender (male, female, other, or prefer not to say)
• Location: Country and city where you're located
• Profile Visibility: Your choice to show or hide your profile from discovery

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Create and maintain your NRImate profile
• Show your profile to other NRIs (if you choose to be visible)
• Calculate connection strengths based on shared attributes
• Provide you with discovery and filtering features

What We DON'T Do

• ❌ We don't sell your data to third parties
• ❌ We don't show ads
• ❌ We don't track you across other websites
• ❌ We don't collect sensitive information (religion, politics, finances, etc.)
• ❌ We don't share your email publicly

Data Storage

Your data is securely stored in MongoDB Atlas with industry-standard encryption. We use Auth0 for authentication, which means we never see or store your password.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• View: See your profile anytime
• Edit: Update your age, sex, or location whenever you want
• Hide: Toggle your profile visibility on/off
• Delete: Remove your profile and all associated data completely

Cookies and Tracking

We use only essential cookies for authentication (via Auth0). We don't use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted services:

• Auth0: For secure Gmail authentication
• MongoDB Atlas: For secure data storage
• Vercel: For hosting (if deployed)

Each of these services has their own privacy policy and security measures that we've carefully evaluated.

Data Retention

We keep your profile as long as you want to use NRImate. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our database within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

NRImate is only for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of NRImate after changes means you accept the updated policy.
